Banish sagging, loose underarm skin with an arm lift Bangkok. If you’ve exercised, used weights, massaged and tried practically everything else to tighten this flapping skin—and it stubbornly refuses to budge—then arm lift surgery may appeal.
With Medical Departures, you can save over 50% on an arm lift in the Thai capital when booking your treatment at one of our partner clinics. Keep reading to discover more.
Aging causes the skin to lose elasticity, and this is particularly prevalent in the skin between the underarm and elbow, causing it to sag. Significant weight loss can also lead to this problem, commonly referred to as ‘bat wings’ or ‘bingo wings’. Arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, can be performed to remove fat and tighten the loose skin on the upper arms.
If exercise hasn’t diminished the loose skin under your arms and you are otherwise in good health, you may be a good candidate for the procedure. It is also worth noting here that this procedure can create scarring although this does fade in time.
Bangkok has some of the best healthcare facilities in the world—and is one of the pioneers of modern medical tourism since it began welcoming savvy international patients in the 1990s.
Since then, Bangkok's facilities have evolved, and it remains the destination of choice for many patients looking for superb-quality facilities with international health and safety standards, professional expertise and standards of customer care that are, in many cases, considerably better than what they receive in hospitals at home.
Like any other surgical procedure, you should consider all the pros and cons carefully. This means doing some research on the actual procedure and weighing the pros and cons: what you are hoping to achieve; complications, budget, and so on. This also means researching facilities/clinics and surgeons.
While you can perform some rudimentary checks online—how do you know whether the information is accurate or trustworthy?
Using Medical Departures makes this process simple and straightforward. Our surgeons and clinics have verified credentials that we have checked ourselves. This includes clinic visits, confirmation of professional memberships & qualifications and real patient testimonials. While no surgery can ever be guaranteed one hundred percent, finding a surgeon and clinic whose credentials stack up is the best way to ensure your surgery is successful.
To see updated prices, as well as clinic photos, surgeon profiles, patient reviews and other information, take a look at these three leading clinics in Bangkok for arm lift surgery:
Several options are generally available for arm lift surgery, and the specific method will be determined by the extent of the underarm skin and fat, as well as the quality of your skin.
Liposuction is an option if your skin has sufficient elasticity to shrink back around your muscle tissue once the fat is removed. A small incision is made under the arm and the fat is diluted and extracted via a tube. Unfortunately, if you do not have good elasticity, or have a lot of sagging skin, liposuction alone may make your arms look worse. For this reason, it is often used in combination with brachioplasty surgery (consult your specialist for further details).
A brachioplasty can be performed in three ways:
A standard brachioplasty removes excess skin from armpit to elbow.
Limited incision brachioplasty works if you have loose skin but not too much excess fatty tissue in the inner arm near the armpit. The surgeon may be able to tighten this by pulling the excess skin and tucking it into the armpit.
If you also have loose skin and fatty tissue that extends into the side of the chest wall, then the standard brachioplasty incision can be lengthened to include this area in an extended brachioplasty.
The recovery time is fairly short after this surgery; many patients are back in work within three to five days. As with any surgery, you will experience soreness and tenderness for a few days, but you should be up and walking about as soon as you can after surgery. Gently stretching and moving your arms will help reduce swelling and aid healing but it will be around four weeks before you gain full movement back. Scarring will fade gradually so that by around 12 months they will barely be noticeable.
Arm lift surgery is reasonably straightforward, and in comparison to other cosmetic surgeries, the downtime is short. After a few days, you should be able to get out and about—certainly walking around or dining out shouldn’t prove to be too difficult, and you’ll be able to enjoy most of what Bangkok has to offer.
Arm lifts in Bangkok average around AUD $4,000 compared to AUD $8,000 in Australia.
