Consider breast revision in Thailand–the ultimate destination for surgery and recuperation–and book through Medical Departures to secure the best prices online.
Breast revision is the term used to describe a surgical procedure whereby breast implants are replaced or removed either due to aesthetic reasons or medical complications.
Contemplating surgery overseas is an important decision, and one not to be taken lightly. However, choose the right surgeon and the benefits far outweigh any disadvantages.
Thailand has been a leader for medical tourism for decades. Many of its facilities are world-class–after all, it wouldn't draw in millions of patients each year if they weren't. Much of the income from medical tourists is re-invested into establishing newer and better facilities as well as state-of-the-art technology so that patients are always assured of receiving the most up-to-date care and techniques currently available.
The best surgeons and clinics we partner with in Thailand are equally as competent as any in the West. Training and the processes of becoming qualified are just as rigorous, and with cross-border training the norm these days, it is not unusual for physicians to have trained in the US, Australia or Europe anyway. They are also likely to have memberships or affiliations with international professional organizations, such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
As a holiday destination, Thailand’s reputation is well-established. Offering a host of appealing locations, and while some are more heavily influenced by Western tastes than others, the country still retains its own cultural identity. From the tranquillity of Chiang Mai to the buzz of Bangkok to the beaches of Phuket, the diversity of Thailand speaks for itself.
The procedure varies and is determined by the reason breast revision is being sought. A straightforward swap of the same size implant will not require any additional surgery; this will simply involve making incisions on the existing scars, removing old implants, inserting the new ones and stitching the wounds up.
Larger implants, capsular contraction or implant rippling will require additional surgery, such as reconstructing the pocket where the implant sits or manipulating scar tissue inside the breast, which will take longer. The time usually required for breast revision surgery is between one and three hours.
After surgery, the chest area will be tender and painful for the first couple of days, especially if your breast tissue is stretched to receive a larger implant, or you have had them moved. You will be given pain medication to relieve the discomfort.
Many people return to work after a week, being careful not to bend, stretch and cause unnecessary strain on the area. After two weeks have surpassed, you should be able to get back to most of your normal activities, but vigorous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for six weeks.
In terms of how long you'll need to stay in Thailand after your surgery, we suggest talking to your chosen surgeon before booking your flights.
Prices for breast revision surgery in Thailand are at least 50% lower than in Australia or the US, giving you plenty of savings to spend on a well-deserved holiday.
