A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that involves removing hair follicles from a donor area and implanting them onto a hairless area of the scalp. This procedure is a long-term solution for hair loss and is typically performed by a licensed dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

The surgeon will first examine your hair so that they can select a donor patch of skin with hair from the back or sides of your head. These patches are selected in such a way that these areas may get covered by the existing hair. A patch is removed by numbing the skin of your head and the scalp is sewn again.

Once the donor patch is selected, the surgeon will numb the skin of your head and remove the patch. The scalp is then sewn together, leaving a thin scar that is typically covered by the surrounding hair.

The surgeon will then create numerous grafts from the donor patch. These grafts typically contain one to four hair follicles and are carefully placed into tiny holes that are created in the hairless area of your scalp. The holes are made with the help of a sterilized needle, and the grafts are planted into them. The new hair grows from these grafts and begins to fill in the bald or thinning area.

The hair transplant procedure typically takes several hours to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated. The recovery period can take up to a few weeks, during which time you may experience some swelling or discomfort. However, once the new hair grows in, it will look and feel natural, and you can enjoy a fuller head of hair for years to come.
