Dr Zorilla was a practising general surgeon between 1985 and 1991 during which time, he began to specialize in weight reduction.
His realisation that obesity was a disease which severely inhibits quality of life and affects the mind, body and spirit, he accurately predicted that corpulence would become an epidemic with the drastic changes in lifestyle and diet, and opened his obesity clinic in 1991.
He has gone on to become a highly-respected bariatric surgeon who has performed over 3000 operations in a career spanning more than two decades. Dr Zorilla has worked alongside other surgeons of high repute and international recognition including: Dr Rafael Alvarez of Mexico City, Dr Mal Fobi, Los Angeles, California, Dr Rafael Capella, New Jersey and Dr Alan Wittgrove of San Diego, California.
Dr Zorilla is currently the medical director of the Comprehensive Center for Surgical Weight Reduction SC, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was president of the Mexican Society of Obesity Surgery. He is currently a member of numerous medical societies including: American Society for Bariatric Surgery, Association of Specialist in General Surgery of Nuevo Leon, Mexican College of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Diseases, Mexican Association of General Surgery, Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery and International Federation for Surgery of Obesity.
Dr Pablo Gerardo Zorrilla Blanco regularly attends national and international conferences and has had a number of scientific articles published in medical journals.
