Cost of Mommy Makeover Surgery in Turkey vs the UK

Cosmetic surgery in the UK generally costs two or three times more than it does in Turkey. A mommy makeover package in Turkey that costs £7,000 may well end up being between £14,000 - £21,000 in the UK... a substantial amount considering that's for the exact same treatment.

It should be noted that these UK prices are for private treatment: most cosmetic surgeries, like those included as part of a “mummy” makeover (as Brits will remind you how it's spelled!), are not covered by the NHS.

Individual Mommy Makeover Procedures: Price Comparison

To get an idea of the costs involved, see below for individual breast lift, tummy tuck, liposuction and rhinoplasty prices in Turkey compared to the UK:

Type of ProcedureAverage Price in the UKAverage Price in Turkey (You Pay)
Breast Lift£5,000 - 8,000 (€5,800 - 10,400)£2,500 - 3,400 (€3,000 - 4,000)
Tummy Tuck£5,000 - 7,000 (€5,800 - 8,000)£3,000 - 3,900 (€3,500 - 4,500)
Liposuction£5,000 - £7,000 (€5,700 - €8,000)£1,700 (€2,000)
Rhinoplasty£6,000 - 8,000 (€7,000 - 10,400)£2,100 (€2,500)

Please note: these prices are averages, estimated at the time of writing; please check our clinic listings (below) for up-to-date prices.

Pricing Note: In many cases, tailor-made mommy makeover packages will actually be less expensive than simply adding up the cost of three of four individual procedures as listed above.

Surgeries performed sequentially in a single session will always take less time overall compared to having the same surgeries carried out separately–and these price savings are one of the key advantages of opting for a mommy makeover.

What Factors Affect Price?

Turkey mommy makeover prices will depend on:

  • The particular procedures a patient wishes to undergo
  • How many procedures a patient is undergoing during the same session of surgery (normally two or three)
  • The particular clinic or hospital
  • The complexity of each individual procedure (for example a partial tummy tuck vs a full tummy tuck, or a breast lift vs a breast lift + breast reduction, etc.)

Medical Tourism in Turkey: Other Price Factors to Consider

The scope of your procedure will have a bearing on how much you’ll end up paying for plastic surgery in Turkey. Prospective medical tourists from the UK, EU, USA and beyond should also consider the following:

  1. Flight costs: for example, cheap flights with budget airlines can cost hundreds less than flying with national carriers
  2. The duration of your stay in Turkey: For any extensive medical undertaking, patients will be advised not to leave Turkey for at least a week following surgery, giving your body time to start healing.
  3. The location of the clinic: for example, clinics located in the busier cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya will have different prices compared to those outside city centers or the more touristy areas
  4. The reputation of the clinic/hospital, as well as your chosen surgeon and team of specialists
  5. The type of accommodation you choose and its location (eg. city center vs suburbs)
  6. Additional expenses for your combined medical holiday

Are There Any Hidden Costs?

There are no hidden costs when booking with Medical Departures. It’s also completely free to use our website or Customer Care Team to book an appointment with a doctor anywhere in the world; you’ll never have to pay any upfront fees, and all treatments are covered by our Best Price Guarantee pledge.

Note: Initial price quotes are provisional, and based on the details provided to us by patients with respect to their cosmetic goals, budget and preferred clinic.

Why Choose Turkey for a Mommy Makeover?

Turkey’s reputation as a holiday destination for Northern Europeans has been growing, particularly since the start of budget passenger flights, taking between four and five hours from the UK. However, only in the past decade have tourists begun to take advantage of the low prices here for a range of different cosmetic, health, and dental treatments, with savings of up to 70% possible at world-class international hospitals and clinics in destinations like Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya.

You can easily find dozens of daily flights from across the UK. Brits and other Europeans don't need a visa to enter the country (at the time of writing), while the country promises an impressive range of cultural and historical attractions to check out before surgery.

As for that two-week recovery period following surgery, Turkey offers a wealth of inexpensive three-, four- and five-star hotels where you can rest up, with prices particularly low at the moment thanks to favorable exchange rates against the Turkish lira. Many offer in-room dining, restaurants, and other on-site amenities to make your stay all the more comfortable.

Another consideration for patients is the fact that only one trip to Turkey is required: This will, again, save you not only time but also a considerable amount of money on airfares, accommodation, and other travel expenses as opposed to traveling abroad for surgery on multiple occasions over a number of months or years.

Other Advantages of Mommy Makeover Packages

Both new and veteran mums are opting for this combined plastic surgery package–rather than undergoing each of their desired procedures separately–for a number of reasons.

Recovery: One of the main advantages of a mommy makeover is that only one recovery period is required. Unlike undergoing each procedure separately, recovering, undergoing another procedure months later, and having to repeatedly endure recovery, with a mommy makeover there is only one, albeit slightly longer, recovery period.

It’s often less expensive: When booking through Medical Departures, you can search for exclusive promotions and package deals that take into account multiple surgeries in one session; these packages often work out to be far less expensive than undergoing each procedure separately.

Associated risks: While there are a set of unique risks associated with combined surgery, one major risk factor concerning anaesthesia is lower for patients undergoing a mommy makeover. As the most dangerous aspect of invasive plastic surgery procedures, local anaesthesia will only need to be administered on one occasion, rather than multiple times.

Finding the Best Clinic and Surgeon for Mommy Makeovers in Turkey

Where surgery is concerned, it is always best not to take chances–no matter how good Turkey’s overall standards of care may be.

Searching online can result in finding small business sites that promise great results at seemingly too-good-to-be-true prices–and in some cases, they are. You cannot be sure of the results with a quick Google search since you really have no way of knowing whether the claims are based on facts or not. Testimonials can be falsified, photos may not be representative and, in the worst cases, previously blacklisted clinics and surgeons might operate under different names, thus hiding their checkered past.

And this is what typically leads to the “horror stories” we hear about medical and dental tourism in tabloid news. While they do happen, in the vast majority of cases, it is because the patient in question found themselves at a sub-standard facility under the care of somebody who should not have been in practice.

Traveling to Turkey as a Medical Tourist

Before undergoing treatment, you may want the opportunity to explore exciting cities like Istanbul or Antalya on the southern coastline, or head to one of the many nearby resort towns dotted along the country’s Turkish Riviera, like Alanya, Bodrum, or Didim.

It must be stressed here that any vigorous holiday activity should be scheduled before treatment gets underway; following surgery, the emphasis will be solely on rest and recovery–which of course you can do in the comfort of well-equipped, affordable lodging—with room service just a call away!

How Long Is the Flight to Turkey (from the UK)?

- Non-stop flights are available from London to Turkey, taking around four hours.

- Flight times may be slightly longer when flying from Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Dublin.

How Much Are Flights to Turkey? (from the UK)

- At the time of writing, return flights from London to Turkey with budget carriers (eg. EasyJet or Ryanair) cost between GBP 100–200.

- Return flights from London to Turkey with national carriers (eg. British Airways or Turkish Airways) cost between GBP 200–400.

Where to Stay in Turkey?

If you are looking for a metropolis-style destination for your cosmetic surgery, we would recommend a visit to Istanbul, an culturally rich, unique city where East meets West in dramatic fashion. For more of a traditional holiday, head to somewhere like Antalya or Alanya on the spectacular Turkish Riviera.

If you desire a more laid-back holiday-style atmosphere for your medical treatments, we would highly recommend you visit Marmaris, also located on the Turkish Riviera and known for its white-sanded beaches, stunning natural beauty, and friendly holiday atmosphere.

For a medical tourism location that merges both a metropolitan and coastal atmosphere, the city of Izmir, situated on the country's Aegean Coast, is a must.

What Does a Mommy Makeover Entail?

This section briefly describes what a mommy makeover may include in terms of surgery, who it is for, advantages, risks, and considerations for your post-op recovery.

For more details about undergoing multiple plastic surgeries abroad, visit our Ultimate Guide to Mommy Makeovers (global guide).

Below, we look at three of the most popular procedures that can be sequentially carried out in one session of surgery as part of a mommy makeover—tummy tucks, liposuction, and breast lift/augmentation:

Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck:

A tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty, can help if your stomach has become stretched after pregnancy and/or subsequent weight gain.

Often, after the skin has lost elasticity, it simply doesn’t just ping back into shape–and no amount of exercise or dieting will change that.

With a tummy tuck in Turkey, the surgeon can trim away this excess loose skin, leaving your tummy flat and smooth again.

Doctors deploy different techniques used during the procedure, which may depend on the surgeon’s preferences as much as a patient’s own circumstances and cosmetic goals. Your surgeon will try to hide incisions in inconspicuous areas, for example, where the scars can be hidden under clothing, like bikini bottoms.

Abdominoplasty surgery can take between two and five hours (including anaesthesia and surgery) depending on the complexity of the procedure. However, a team of surgeons may be able to perform the procedure concurrently with other surgeries as part of a mommy makeover.

Liposuction:

Liposuction (lipo) helps remove stubborn fat deposits that remain after pregnancy and subsequent weight gain, providing that these areas aren’t responding well to a low-calorie diet and exercise.

Common areas that liposuction can be used on include the abdomen (as part of a tummy tuck), hips, thighs, arms, and even the face.

Methods used by surgeons to break down and subsequently remove excess fat cells include:

  • High-frequency vibrations
  • A low-power laser pulse
  • A high-pressure water jet device

The safest and most common technique for liposuction uses micro-cannulas measuring about 2.8mm, allowing the surgeon to perform controlled, detailed work.

Fat cells are infused with a mix of saline, local anesthetic, and adrenaline mix. This combination increases safety, eases the removal process, and makes for a less uncomfortable recovery.

Lasers and ultrasound devices can assist in the micro-cannula liposuction procedure. Both the laser method and ultrasound cavitation method work to dissolve the fat, making the tissue easier to extract via cannula.

Breast Lift:

A breast lift in Turkey as part of a mommy makeover might be just the thing to reverse the effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The breasts can be restored to their former perky position and plump shape with a procedure known as mastopexy that essentially raises sagging breasts.

Do note that a breast lift alone does not add volume, in spite of the fact that the breasts may seem a little rounder. Likewise, the procedure is not designed to decrease the size, with liposuction only removing a minimal amount of excess fat.

For those that do want to change the size, in certain cases, breast augmentation (with implants) or a breast reduction can be combined with a breast lift.

It should be noted that a breast lift can take between one and three hours to complete (including anaesthesia and surgery).

Find out more about undergoing breast lift surgery abroad here.

Breast Reduction:

Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is used to reduce the size of the breasts by removing excess fat tissue and skin.

It can also be combined with a breast lift in order to achieve a perkier position, as well as liposuction and a tummy tuck as part of a mommy makeover in Turkey.

Find out more about what breast reduction surgery entails here

Breast Augmentation (Implants)

Breast implantation is one of the most common plastic surgeries in the world, with millions of women every year achieving a larger, fuller cup size with the help of silicone or saline implants.

Incisions can be made under the breast tissue, in the armpit, or around the areola.

Likewise, a “boob job” in Turkey can be combined with a breast lift and other surgeries designed to help women get their pre-pregnancy shape back.

Other Mommy Makeover Procedures Available in Turkey

As a package of procedures, a mommy makeover is flexible in terms of which surgeries can be performed at the same time, and generally dependent on a patient’s personal cosmetic goals.

While certain procedures cannot be combined as part of the same single session of surgery due to each one’s unique complications, our verified clinics and hospitals in Turkey also offer the following treatments:

Feel free to ask our Customer Care team for a personalized quote for your desired treatment plan, and we’ll be back in touch after communicating with our verified partner clinics and hospitals in Turkey.

How Long Will I Need to Be in Turkey for Plastic Surgery?

As a general rule, for combined tummy, breast, and buttock surgery in Turkey, you should plan to stay in the country for around two weeks, including your recovery period and post-op follow-ups.

This will give you time to:

  • Prepare for your surgery after arriving in Turkey
  • Attend pre-surgical consultations
  • Undergo the mommy makeover surgery, with normally one night spent in an out-patient facility (standard practice for any plastic surgery performed under general anesthetic)
  • Rest and recovery in your hotel room following your discharge
  • Attend any post-surgical appointment in Turkey before getting the green light to fly home.

For different sets of combined surgeries, such as facial procedures, the recovery time is quicker and so patients may feel well enough to return home after one week.

Find out more about how you can prepare for a smooth recovery following plastic surgery in Turkey.

How Long Is the Recovery Time from a Mommy Makeover?

Your recovery will depend on which surgeries you opt for in Turkey. In the case of no complications, a full recovery can usually be expected within six to 12 weeks.

It should be noted:

  • You should be prepared to feel very out-of-sorts immediately after the surgery for several days, and your movement may be stiff and limited.
  • Pain medication will be given to you to get over the worst, which you can continue once back home.
  • Once the swelling and bruising have begun to subside, your movement will increase and you will begin to feel a whole lot better.
  • It may be several weeks before you can embark on your everyday activities.
  • It will be around six weeks before vigorous exercise and strenuous activities, including heavy lifting, can be resumed.
  • Buttock implants come with a unique set of recovery considerations (for instance, it may take longer before you can comfortably sit or drive).

Undergoing Combined Plastic Surgery: The Risks

Your safety and well-being should be a paramount consideration, which is why Medical Departures makes it our business to do our own background checks for your safety. No surgery can ever be completely guaranteed, especially those performed under general anaesthetic, but knowing that the basics are covered will stand you in good stead.

When in Turkey, or any other country for that matter, you will be asked to sign consent forms to make sure you fully understand what the surgery entails as well as potential risk factors. These include but are not limited to asymmetry, implant leakage, infection, loss of sensation around affected areas, persistent pain, unwanted scarring, looseness of the skin, and inability to breastfeed. In extremely rare cases, surgical risks include seroma, hematoma, contour deformity, cardiac and pulmonary complications, deep venous thrombosis, and anesthesia-related risks.

Note: Undergoing multiple simultaneous procedures carries unique, inherent risks. We encourage you to take time to learn more about the risks associated with mommy makeovers.

It must be stressed here that any vigorous holiday activity should be scheduled before treatment gets underway; following surgery, the emphasis will be solely on rest and recovery–which of course you can do in the comfort of well-equipped, affordable lodging—with room service just a call away!

From the moment I arrived on my first visit, the service has been impeccable. However, one minor issue was the temperature of the air conditioning, which I found to be a little too chilly for my liking.

While the service is generally very good, I found the air conditioning to be quite cold. I would have appreciated a slightly warmer environment, as the temperature was a bit sharp for my comfort.
